Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how TFT Legal Service (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares personal information through standagainstabuse.com (the “Website”), operated under the name Stand Against Abuse. It applies to information collected before you are formally represented by any law firm.
1. Who we are
TFT Legal Service operates Stand Against Abuse, an attorney advertising and referral service. We are not a law firm, and we do not provide legal advice. When you ask for a case review, we share your information with one or more participating attorneys or law firms so they can evaluate your request and contact you. If you sign an engagement agreement with a law firm, that firm’s own privacy practices and the attorney-client relationship govern the information you share with it from then on.
2. Information we collect
- Contact details and identifiers you enter, such as your name, phone numbers, email address, street address, city, state, ZIP code, and date of birth.
- Information about your situation that you choose to share, such as the type of institution involved, approximately when the abuse happened, your age at the time, and whether you already have a lawyer. Because of the subject of this Website, this can reveal sensitive information (for example, that you experienced sexual abuse as a child). We use it only to evaluate and respond to your request.
- Consent records, such as the consent text you agreed to, the time you submitted, and a consent certificate generated by our consent-verification provider.
- Device and usage information collected automatically, such as IP address, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, the page address you submitted from, referring page, and how you interact with the evaluation assistant (including answers you select before you finish).
We do not ask for Social Security numbers, medical records, or government ID on this Website. Please do not send them to us.
3. How we collect it
- From you, when you use the evaluation assistant (“little agent”) on our homepage, or when you email or call us.
- Automatically, through cookies, scripts and similar technologies used by the Website and by the evaluation assistant.
- From service providers that help us verify consent, prevent fraud, and confirm the accuracy of submissions.
4. How we use information
- To respond to your request and connect you with a participating attorney or law firm for a free review.
- To contact you by phone, text message, or email about your request, as you authorize.
- To keep records of your consent and to meet legal and regulatory obligations.
- To detect and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse, and to keep the Website secure.
- To understand how the Website performs and to improve it, using aggregated or de-identified information where possible.
5. How we share information
We share personal information only as described here:
- Participating attorneys and law firms (and their intake teams), so they can evaluate your request and contact you. You direct this disclosure when you submit the evaluation form.
- Service providers that work on our behalf under contract, including the provider that hosts the evaluation assistant and stores submissions (LeadBot / GetLeadForms), consent-verification (TrustedForm by ActiveProspect), spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA), IP-based location lookup, website hosting, and email delivery.
- Legal and safety reasons: to comply with law, subpoenas or court orders, to protect rights, safety and property, or to investigate fraud.
- Business transfers: as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not share the details of your situation with advertisers.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
The Website and the evaluation assistant use cookies, local storage, and scripts to run the assistant, remember your progress, prevent fraud (reCAPTCHA), and record consent (TrustedForm). The assistant’s code may also load advertising-measurement libraries (such as the Meta Pixel library). You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; if you do, the evaluation assistant may not work properly.
7. Calls, texts and emails
If you submit your contact details and agree to the consent language shown in the evaluation form, you may receive calls, text messages, and emails about your request, which may use automated technology. Consent is not a condition of any purchase or service. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP to any text to opt out, or email [email protected].
8. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes above: generally for as long as your request is being evaluated and then for the period needed to keep consent and compliance records and resolve disputes (typically up to five years), unless a longer period is required by law. We then delete, de-identify, or securely archive it.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be promised.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us to: confirm whether we process your personal information and give you a copy; correct inaccurate information; delete your information; and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or targeted advertising. To make a request, email [email protected] with the subject “Privacy request.” We will verify your request using information you previously gave us and respond within the time required by law. You will not be treated differently for exercising your rights. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision.
11. California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
This section applies to California residents and supplements the rest of this policy, as required by the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA”).
Notice at collection
In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information, for the purposes described in Section 4, and disclosed them for a business purpose to the recipients described in Section 5:
| Category | Examples | Disclosed to |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, phone, email, postal address, IP address | Participating attorneys; service providers |
| Personal records (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.80(e)) | Name, address, phone number | Participating attorneys; service providers |
| Characteristics of protected classifications | Date of birth / age; information about the incident you choose to share | Participating attorneys; service providers |

| Sensitive personal information | Information about childhood sexual abuse you choose to share | Participating attorneys, only to evaluate your request |
| Inferences | Whether your request may fit a participating attorney’s criteria | Participating attorneys |
Sale and sharing. We do not sell personal information for money. Disclosing your information to an attorney at your direction is not a sale. However, third-party code used by the evaluation assistant (for example, advertising-measurement libraries) may receive device and usage information, which may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
Sensitive personal information. We use sensitive personal information only to respond to your request and for other purposes permitted by Cal. Code Regs. tit. 11, §7027(m). We do not use it to infer characteristics about you.
Retention. See Section 8.
Your California rights and how to use them
- Right to know and access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collected, the sources, purposes, and the categories of recipients.
- Right to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing (“Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information”): email [email protected] with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share.” You can also turn on a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser; we treat a GPC signal as a valid opt-out request for that browser to the extent we can associate it with you.
- Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we already limit it as described above).
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
You or an authorized agent may submit a request by email to [email protected] or by phone at (786) 795-8205. We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days (extendable once by 45 days with notice). To protect you, we verify requests by matching information you provide with information we hold. An authorized agent must provide signed written permission from you, and we may ask you to verify your identity directly.
Shine the Light (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.83). We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes without your consent. California residents may request information about such disclosures using the contact details below.
12. Children
This Website is about abuse that happened in childhood, but it is intended to be used by adults. If the survivor is still under 18, a parent or legal guardian should submit information on their behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 (or sell or share the information of consumers under 16) without the consent required by law. If you believe a child has given us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we will provide a more prominent notice.
